Weather you walk, run, or crawl it is always good to sign up for a race. Make a goal for yourself for the time you want to finish and train to complete that goal. It is the best thing you can do for yourself. With the holidays around the corner you will be consuming more than you normally do, so go ahead and find a race that you want to participate in and start your training.
