Weather you walk, run, or crawl it is always good to sign up for a race.  Make a goal for yourself for the time you want to finish and train to complete that goal.  It is the best thing you can do for yourself.  With the holidays around the corner you will be consuming more than you normally do, so go ahead and find a race that you want to participate in and start your training.  If you are in the Atlanta area and want to train with me you know who to call for an extra push.  Enjoy!

Laura's Salmon & Egg Recipe

Now I know what you are thinking, salmon and eggs for breakfast?  Well this is my recipe that I personally have tested and tried, and I promise if you like salmon, you will like this as well!

First, grab a fresh 6 oz salmon from the market of your choice and either grill it or bake it, but only put a little salt, pepper, and garlic salt on it for a little taste.  Cook it to your liking.   You can either cook the salmon the night before and have leftovers for morning, or cook it fresh in the morning.

Second, use an all white egg substitute, and some light sharp cheddar cheese, the cooked salmon, as well as some fresh salsa (hot or mild),  and start cooking.

You cook the eggs until the eggs are done and the cheese is melted.

You can add some fat free sour cream and some fresh parsley on top as some garnish.

These eggs are full of protein and will get your day started right.  Drink a full 8 oz. glass of orange juice and you will be off and running.

Fitness Videos

Please to announce that I am making not one, but three exercise videos to sell on my website www.customgymsonline.com.  As you know I have instructed fitness classes for most of my life and now I am bringing my fitness class to your own home.  I am excepting donations for the making of these videos.  My goal is to reach $1500 to $2000 which will include all production costs and any extra equipment fees.  You can make your donations on my website www.customgymsonline.com under the DONATE tab, or you can send a personal check to Custom Home Gyms, LLC. made out to Laura S. Gudipalley.  Please send all checks to 598 Vinings Estates Dr. Mableton, GA 30126.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Laura S. Gudipalley

Spring is in the Air

Pep up your step while the weather is getting warmer.  Find activities outdoors that will keep you active and healthy.  Remember to eat small portions and to get at least 30 minutes of cardio a day.  As the summer is on its way remember to grab some sunblock and apply it to prevent premature skin damage.  Hydrate by drinking lots of water on those sunny days and don't forget to have fun in the sun!

muscle endurance and training

Muscle endurance takes lots of proper exercise and correct nutrition.  Your muscles should be tired after your work out, and you should try to work different muscles every day of the week in order to train your body correctly.  Once you come back to the muscles that you had worked before, your muscles should be rested and ready to work hard and to the point of exhaustion.  It is important to warm up your body with some sort of cardio and stretching before training.  Remember it is important to eat a light meal within 30 minutes of your exercise.

massage for fitness

There are several types of massages that you can get to help your body recover from daily aches and pains.  Nuromuscular therapy for chronic pain, deep tissue massage to flush out soft tissue and release chronic muscle tension, myofascial release massage for the release of muscular tension, sports massage given to most athletes for the emphases of prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons, lymphatic massage useful for people experiencing edema or excess fluid and swelling, and NMT which is great for those experiencing pain due to arthritis.  Which ever category you fit into massage can help relive pain and extra stress in your body.

exercises for arthritis

Swimming, water aerobics, and walking are all great exercises for arthritis.  Being in the water is great for your joints and gives you a really calming feeling while exercising.  You can still get a great workout while doing these exercises if you push yourself and do the exercises correctly.
